Fitness for Duty Evaluations (FFDE)
Fitness for Duty evaluations are needed when:
  1. An employee desires to return to work after an extended (non-FMLA) leave or short term disability; or
  2. An employee has experienced medical, psychological, or behavioral job related difficulties.

The competent and timely Fitness for Duty evaluation assists in making plans for return to work, determinations about the type of work, needs for re-training, and/or appropriate disciplinary decisions. FMRT provides either a “Fit for Present Position” or “Not Fit for Present Position” recommendation. This allows agencies the necessary flexibility to 1) return the employee to duty, 2) offer alternate duty positions or 3) encourage the employee to pursue other arrangements which may include remediation, treatment, or other lines of work.

Officer Involved Shooting Evaluations (OISE)

Officer Involved Shooting Evaluations are interventions designed to constructively support employees involved in shootings, use-of-force incidents, or other critical incidents. The goals of OISEs include supporting the employee with information and resources, assuring work-family-peer-other support systems are in place, and resourcing community medical and psychological treatment providers if needed. OIS incidents may (or may not) trigger an agency investigative process, and if an FFDE is subsequently needed a different, impartial FMRT psychologist will conduct it.
